Ogungbangbe Commends Osun LG Workers for Unwavering Loyalty and Compliance with Sit-at-Home Directive
The President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Osun State Chapter, Dr. Nathaniel Kehinde Ogungbangbe, has commended all local government workers across the 30 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state for their exceptional discipline, unity, and steadfast adherence to the union’s sit-at-home directive.
In a statement released on Monday, Dr. Ogungbangbe applauded the courage of the workers who have continued to show commitment to the cause of justice and the defense of due process in local government administration. He described their obedience to the union’s directive as a demonstration of their beliefs to the principles of lawful governance and their unshakable belief in the leadership of the union.
"Despite numerous attempts by anti-democratic elements to frustrate the collective resolve of the union, Local Government workers have refused to be intimidated or lured into illegality."
“Our members have proven once again that they stand for truth, order, and justice. I commend their patience and maturity in the face of provocation and deceit,” he stated.
Dr. Ogungbangbe also revealed that reports from across the state confirmed that a few hired political agents, masquerading as local government staff, were seen loitering around some council secretariats. He clarified that these individuals, identified as purported APC loyalists, were allegedly mobilized to create false impressions of normalcy. “These impostors, however, disappeared from the secretariats shortly after receiving their payment from their political sponsors. The true workers of Osun have maintained their integrity by refusing to be part of such acts of sabotage."
While reaffirming that the sit-at-home directive remains in force until the safety and legitimacy of local government administration are guaranteed, Dr. Ogungbangbe urged members to continue to exercise restraint, remain peaceful, and ignore any directive coming from unauthorized persons or politically motivated factions. He reiterated that NULGE will never compromise the interest of its members or the sanctity of the law.
The NULGE President further called on the Osun State Government, security agencies, and well-meaning stakeholders to remain vigilant and ensure that the sanctity of local government institutions is not violated by impostors or political opportunists. He assured workers that the union is working tirelessly, through both legal and administrative channels, to restore normalcy and secure their welfare and dignity soon.
