One Year Anniversary: Governor Adeleke is on the right path. By Azeez Olakunle Dinho. 

Governor Ademola Adeleke's administration as the Governor of Osun State will on Monday celebrate its first anniversary. It was like yesterday in Osun state when every street was awashed with explicit expressions of joy and fulfillment by millions of people; the entire Osun indigenes and residents in the state jumped and chanted songs of joy as the new Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, was sworn.

Their joy knew no bounds, as they had so much faith in him, given that he had been tested and trusted in his previous public position as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It was widely anticipated that his wealth of experience and laudable achievements in the little period he spent in the office as the Senator coupled with his family antecedent in both public and private sectors would bring massive development to our dear state. 

The good people of Osun state believe that with his unrivaled passion and concern for the plight of the common man, particularly the civil servants and pensioners who have been yarning for good governance to rescue them from the hands of the cankerworms and caterpillars that are in charge over the years, Osun state was about to witness a tremendous shared prosperity in all its ramifications having Governor Ademola Adeleke as the governor.

Aware of the high expectations of him and driven by the unquantifiable love he has for his people, Senator Ademola Adeleke immediately swung into action, a clear indication that he was in a hurry to take Osun state to a higher level of all-around development. Without a doubt, the administration has positively impacted the lives of the Osun masses through its numerous innovative and people-oriented programs and projects.

Governor Adeleke PDP's led administration's outstanding achievements in the area of education within the one year in office are breathtaking. Aside from the Education Summit organized by his administration to reform the sector, It is on record that within one year in office, Adeleke embarked on massive construction, rehabilitation, and renovations of hundreds of blocks of classrooms and offices across the 30 LGAs of Osun state. 

With his giant strides in education within the last year, the governor demonstrated that he is not oblivious to the fact that education is the key to scientific and technological advancement, the means to combat unemployment, and the foundation to attaining social equity.

Apart from his giant strides in education, the health sector has also recorded huge transformation. To bring quality healthcare service closer to the people, particularly the people in the rural areas, Governor Adeleke approved the renovation of 332 primary, comprehensive, and maternity healthcare centers across the state, some are ongoing.

His Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke also clearly showed his committed resolve to build the Osun State of our dream, and to make life better for the masses through the provision of potable water to their doorsteps as he embarked on massive drilling of 332 boreholes across the wards in the state of which the second phase will start as soon as possible. 

The massive road construction across the federal constituency is another remarkable achievement of Senator Ademola Adeleke in his one year in office. So far so good, about 90 kilometers of roads have been reconstructed with another 45 kilometers still ongoing.

Pensioners are not left out of the plan of Governor Adeleke's administration. In his one year of office, Governor Adeleke has released more than the sum of N17 Billion to pay off pension liabilities owed the mainstream retirees and the retirees in Local Government Areas by the previous administration. The development is part of efforts put in place by the present administration to find a holistic solution to the issue of payment of pension entitlements to retirees. 

Aside from this, the Governor also enrolled the entire retirees in the state on the state healthinsurancescheme. This will benefit over 23, 000 pensioners in the State and reduce their obligation of managing health challenges that contend them which usually come at a huge cost.

The Governor has also paid in batches four out of the thirty modulated salary  arrears owed by the previous administration and has also promised to clear it as long as he remains the Governor of the State.

True democracy cannot exist in a society incapable of supporting the aspirations of its people. With the steady strides of Governor Ademola Adeleke, and Imole Osun's administration in the past one year, it has been indicated that a truly representative government must create an enabling environment for its citizenry to thrive in different ways. We are glad that Osun is in safer hands under the leadership of Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke
