WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT F.G. PALLIATIVES AND HOW THE OSUN STATE GOVERNMENT IS HANDLING THE DISTRIBUTION BY COMR. ADEKUNLE OLAYIWOLA DA'PEACE





Yesterday 23rd of August 2023, Osun State Governor H.E Sen. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke who was represented by the Deputy Governor H.E Prince Kola Adewusi inaugurated a standing committee to handle the distribution of the palliatives. 


1. COMMITTEE MEMBERS OFFICIALLY INAUGURATED AND WERE GIVEN THE MANDATE TO DISCHARGE THEIR DUTIES WITHOUT ANY INTERFERENCE.


2. THE COMPOSITION OF THE COMMITTEE ARE; 

i. Labor union, 

ii. Muslim community, 

iii. Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN),

iv. Pensioners, 

v.  People living with disabilities, 

vi. IPAC, 

vii. Market women, 

viii. Soon to be added are representatives of the Traditionalists, Journalists, Youth groups, and other concerned interests. 


3. THE COMMITTEE HAD ITS INAUGURAL MEETING AFTER WHICH THEY ADDRESSED THE PRESS AND PRESENTED THE FOLLOWING DECISION TAKEN THAT; 

THEY, 


i. Commended Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke for being open to all in his administration which he has also extended by bringing non-politicians together to form the committee on modality to share Osun palliative, 


ii. Attest to and confirm that only 3000 bags of rice have been received by the Osun State government and await the arrival of another 14,320 bags of rice to make it 17,320 bags. 


iii. Confirm and affirm that the 3000 received so far are intact, safe, and have not been converted to personal use as claimed by the members of the opposition APC and some individual rumor carriers and that the general public should take note, 


iv. Jointly agreed to wait for the arrival of the remaining 14,320 bags before distribution, 


In addition during the press address, the honorable commissioner for information and public enlightenment Barr. Kolapo Alimi while reacting to questions from journalists thanked the Federal government for the palliatives and dispelled the rumor claiming that the state government has received a sum of 5 billion Naira in palliative cash. 

He assured the committee and the people of Osun State that, as soon the state received such money, the state would come back like this with the committee to address the people. 


It is also good to note that the 5 billion is designed by F.G as stated below; 


• 2,080,000,000 grant (cash)

• 1,920,000,000 loan (cash)

• 14,516 bags of 50kg rice

• 3,200 Mt maize.



The committee members in attendance are the chairman of the Osun State Trade Union Congress (TUC) Comrade Bimbo Fasakin, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Osun State chapter Rev’d John Adeleke, Very Rev. Ajao Olayinka Faith Elijah, President of the Osun State Muslim Community Alhaji Mustapha Adeleke Olaniyi, the Iyaloja General of Osun State Chief (Mrs) Mary Aderonke Oyebode, Labour Union leader Comrade Lasun Akindele, representative of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners Comrade Oyebade Dele, representative of the Egbe Olowo Parapo Mrs. Hamzat Jelilat, Chairman of the Osun State Marketers Association Chief Ismail Olaiya, IPAC chairman Engr. Femi Adesuyi, Alhaji Abdulfatai Jagunmolu, and NUJ Correspondent Chapel.
