 State of Emergency on Food Security: Osun Commissioner for Agriculture Plan to Turn Osun State to a Model State for Others through Agro Based Industrialisation.

The Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture in Osun State Hon. Tola Faseru while featuring on Channels TV Business Morning show yesterday 8th of August 2023 has outlined the road map for food security in Osun State and the necessary steps in achieving an Agro based industrialisation for the state. 


Mr. Faseru in the live television program critically analysed the vocal goals of Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke in achieving food security and providing job opportunities for the good people of Osun State through mechanise farming with the necessary government support.


Hon. Tola Faseru empahsised the need in partnering with private sectors for Agriculture innovation, and ensure modern agric techniques in food preservation and storage as a means of reducing farm products wastage in increase production.


The Honourable Commissioner also explained in details how Osun State agriculture sector in a short while will be a model for other states by reviving various farm settlements in the state, making agriculture look attractive for the youth, expansion of rural and feeder roads to enable farmers free access to their farm.


Hon. Faseru also provided an insight into the cash crop harvesting such as Cocoa, Kola nut, Cashew exportation which will enhance the state Internal Revenue Generation(IGR) and the support for farmers in agric mechanization.


The Commissioner for Agriculture also ceased the opportunity of the live programme to explained comprehensively about partnering with relevant stakeholders in the state to achieve food security and food sufficient in the state while also emphasized the need to partner with the Cocoa Research Institute to aid availability of seeds for Osun farmers.


Hon. Faseru said fostering security in the state to protect farmers to cultivate on their farm land is key and praised Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke for the relative peace and tranquility in Osun State since he became the Governor of the state. 


Hon. Tola Faseru also promise to partner with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Trade and Investment and other foreign bodies in the exportation chain.


In conclusion, Hon. Tola Faseru emphasised the need for all tiers of government to collaborate effectively in achieving food security and food sufficient in Nigeria to turn Nigeria to the Agriculture hub of the continent.
